Senator Kirsten Gillibrand has unveiled new legislation to help public schools.

The senator says "The Re-Open And Rebuild America's Schools Act" would invest more than $100 billion in grant funding to schools with facilities that pose health and safety risks to students and staff.

The money would be used to help fight the spread of COVID-19 and expand access to reliable, high-speed broadband.

Gillibrand says the federal government must do more to make sure every community has the resources it needs to make schools safe.
