Deputy, Teresian House resident among Albany County's new coronavirus cases

There are now 41 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Albany County as of Wednesday morning.

A resident at a facility at Teresian House Center for the Elderly has tested positive. County Health Commissioner Dr. Elizabeth Whalen says the patient was not in main facility, but in a separate area of the house for respite care. The patient is now being treated at Albany Medical Center. They don’t believe the general population of the Teresian House is at risk.

Albany County Sheriff Craig Apple says a deputy sheriff has tested positive as well. Nine other deputies are under quarantine as a precaution.

The sheriff says the deputy who tested positive went to the jail a few times. So they’re taking precautions at the there. They have more than 60 isolation rooms and are making 50 more.
