GE Healthcare is among firms teaming up with Ford Motor Company to help boost production of medical supplies, including ventilators, respirators and protective gear for healthcare workers.
The move is to help address shortages in the fight against coronavirus.
Through this collaboration, Ford will provide its technical and production expertise with the goal of manufacturing a simplified design of GE Healthcare’s existing ventilator, GE said in a statement.
Ford is also working with 3M to increase the manufacturing capacity of their powered air-purifying respirator (PAPR) designs.
Healthcare workers around the country have been expressing concerns about difficulties in attaining enough supplies as they deal with the influx of patients.
