The move is to help address shortages in the fight against coronavirus.

Through this collaboration, Ford will provide its technical and production expertise with the goal of manufacturing a simplified design of GE Healthcare’s existing ventilator, GE said in a statement.

Ford is also working with 3M to increase the manufacturing capacity of their powered air-purifying respirator (PAPR) designs.

Healthcare workers around the country have been expressing concerns about difficulties in attaining enough supplies as they deal with the influx of patients.
