Hourly workers at Price Chopper/Market 32 stores are getting a pay increase, the supermarket chain announced Friday afternoon.

The Schenectady-based company says it’s doing this in recognition of the efforts its employees are making during this unprecedented time.

“Our teammates have shown selfless dedication since the pandemic began and been nothing short of amazing,” President and CEO Scott Grimmett said in a statement.

Both full and part-time employees will get a $1 per hour increase starting next week and continuing until April 19.

Price Chopper/Market 32 announced Thursday that it’s  looking to hire more than 2,000 new part-time or temporary workers.
