Schenectady County has declared a state of emergency.
They say this will "preserve the public safety and to render all appropriate assistance to the safety, well-being, and health of the residents of the county."
They also say this means schools that don't meet the requirement of 180 days won't be financially penalized.
The county is also asking residents who don't have time sensitive business with county departments to consider holding off for now.
