CLIFTON PARK - Schools across the country are facing bus driver shortages. That's why the Shenendehowa School District is inviting perspective drivers to try their hand behind the wheel.

It's a program they've been doing for a few years now.

Transportation Director Al Karam says they typically lose about 25 drivers a year for various reasons.

He says prospective drivers can be nervous at first, but get much more comfortable with the idea once they've actually tried driving a bus.

They're looking for good drivers who enjoy working with children and are able to pay attention to a number of things at the same time.

If you weren't able to make it to the bus demo on Friday and are interested, you can call the Shen Transportation Department for more information.

Hear from the transportation director about how a good bus driver can really make a difference in the school experience, by watching the video of the story.
