Union College names first African American president

SCHENECTADY - Union College has named its first African American president. Dr. David Harris will become the leader of the school on July 1.

Harris will replace current President Stephen Ainlay, who is retiring. He was most recently the senior vice president at Tufts University in Massachusetts.

Harris will be the 19th president of Union College, which was founded in 1795.
