Panel discussion helps mark 'International Women's Day' in Capital Region

ALBANY - "International Women's Day" was marked on Thursday by women protesting in many parts of the world.

In parts of Asia, women took to the streets calling for women's rights in the constitution.

In Madrid, they protested wage gaps and violence against women.

Here at home, Excelsior College hosted a panel discussion on women in technology and management.

"Everyone makes mistakes. Leaders make mistakes. You really need to look at that not as a roadblock, but as something to help grow both professionally and personally through a career," explained Barbara McCandless, the VP of Human Resources at St. Peter's Health Partners.

Organizers say the topic is important because research identifies a "think manager, think male" mindset.
