A nationwide laptop shortage is presenting a challenge as many schools adapt to remote learning.

According to a Supply Chain Management Review, the pandemic has halted China's production of laptop parts, resulting in supply chain issues.

What can you do? Experts say find a specialist to fix or refurbish an older computer or laptop that you may have.

NewsChannel 13’s NBC affiliate in Springfield spoke with Brian Zhang of PC Warehouse.

"That's a big problem. Many families have older computers. They can upgrade them to repair it. Get them ready before school starts. If they want to invest in a new one, normally they wait a week or two, so they have to plan ahead,” Zhang said.

Laptop maker Acer also warns they are having shipping delays with components like screens, batteries, and processors. Analysts say that could make the issue worse.
