Partnership brings new Head Start classes to Troy neighborhood

TROY - Parents in Troy's Griswold Heights housing complex just got a little help in making sure their kids are prepared to learn.
The ribbon was cut Friday on two new Head Start classes, very close to the neighborhood.
Before, parents had to take several buses to get their kids to Head Start in Troy. So the folks at CEO contacted the Troy Housing Authority to see if they could partner and put the classes in the Griswold Heights Community Center.
The two classes can hold 30 kids.
Education experts say that what kids learn in Head Start is invaluable and makes them more prepared to go to kindergarten than those who never attended Head Start.
There's also a parent advocacy component to the program so the parents can join in the partnership of educating and keeping their kids excited about learning.
