Schenectady County Community College gets new name

Schenectady County Community College is now SUNY Schenectady.

College officials say they had never done a brand research project before and felt it was important as they approach their 50th anniversary.

The result is the new name, which is already starting to pop-up all over campus.

The college is also adding a full-time sheriff's deputy to the payroll.

Officials say in the current climate, it's important to increase security on campus and enhance their relationship with the surrounding community.
