SUNY says the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program is being expanded to help more students.
Chancellor Jim Malatras visited Capital Region EOC on Wednesday.
He says 50% of students at EOC's have experienced hunger.
Students will now be allowed to substitute classwork for work hours, to meet the requirements of SNAP.
Qualifying students will be automatically registered for
SNAP when they sign up for classes.
Malatras says he wants to knock down every barrier possible, so students get what they need.
Hear him talk more about how this will help students by watching the video.
