SUNY offering in-state tuition to Bahamas students displaced by Dorian

SUNY will offer in state tuition for students in the Bahamas displaced by Hurricane Dorian and who can't return home.

Gov. Cuomo made the announcement on Wednesday. He's also encouraging similar moves at 30 community colleges, along with statutory colleges at Cornell University and Alfred Ceramics.

The hurricane left many people dead or missing and others homeless.

Similar help was offered to people after Hurricane Maria and Hurricane Irma in 2017, along with the 2010 Haiti earthquake and Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
