The Red Cross is in great need of blood donors for people like Anne Singiza.

The 15-year-old Albany girl has sickle cell disease, a genetic blood disorder.

Her red blood cells are sickle-shaped instead of round, and unable to carry oxygen efficiently.

The result is pain and exhaustion, which is not a combo conducive for an active life like Anne's.

She loves school and math is her favorite subject.

If she doesn't become a doctor, she will follow her other passion, which is fashion.

However, she needs an adequate blood supply to keep her healthy and the pain in her bones at bay. That means monthly blood transfusions.

Learn more about how the pandemic caused a problem with the supply she desperately needs, and how you can help by watching the video of Benita Zahn's story.
