Ban on flavored e-cigarettes in NY put on hold

October 03, 2019 09:46 PM

The ban in New York state on flavored e-cigarettes has been put on hold.

It was going to take effect at midnight Thursday.

A judge placed a temporary hold on the state's ban amid pending litigation.

Smoke shops are apparently being told the measure has been indefinitely delayed.

Details from the judge's decision haven't been made public yet. However, the measure received considerable push back from smoke shop owners who said the ban would essentially put them out of business by driving customers across state lines to get the flavored e-cigarette cartridges.

The outbreak of vaping related illnesses surpassed 1,000 cases on Thursday in the United States.
