October 04, 2019 08:21 PM

Flu season is here, and new research from the Centers for Disease Control shows why it is so important to get that shot.

Research showed the vaccine reduced the risk of hospitalization by nearly half.

Another study found adults who were hospitalized with the flu were 36-percent less likely to die or experience other complications - like pneumonia - if they had the flu shot.

The CDC recommends everyone six months and older get the flu shot by the end of this month.
