Testing for coronavirus is at a crossroads because of trouble with the test kits. This includes the kits sent to the Wadsworth Lab in Albany a few weeks ago.

The Centers for Disease Control says the kits are flawed - a problem with the reagents.

The Association of Public Health Laboratories says only about a dozen of the more than 100 public health labs nationwide have verified the CDC test for use, and those labs still have to send results to the CDC for confirmation.

New York's Health Department says Wadsworth is continuing to work with the CDC to implement testing. However, the delay could get in the way of broader screening if more suspected cases of coronavirus appear in the states.

It's not clear when the CDC will re-issue test kits.
