Latham teen delivers 900 hats to Albany Med for cancer patients

ALBANY - Jeremy Wernick of Latham delivered 900 winter hats to Albany Medical Center on Wednesday.

This is the sixth year of "Hatsgiving", a project Jeremy started when he was 9 years old.

After shaving his head to raise money for St. Baldrick's Foundation, Jeremy realized how cold a bald head can get. So now, he collects hats for children with cancer who lose their hair while undergoing chemotherapy.

In addition to Albany Medical Center, hats will be shipped to hospitals and cancer centers in 16 states.

Jeremy is the son of NewsChannel 13 Executive Producer Jeff Wernick.
