Wearing masks not only helped tamp down COVID-19 infection, it also tamped down transmission of other airborne viruses, including RSV -- respiratory syncytial virus. It’s a common respiratory virus that usually causes mild, cold-like symptoms. Most people recover in a week or two, but it can cause severe illness, especially in infants and older people. Earlier in June, the CDC issued a warning that cases of RSV were climbing in the southern states. So what do we in the northeast need to know about RSV? Dr. Mark Osborn, chief of pediatrics at st. Peter's Hospital, is here to fill us in.
