New 'Lactation Lounges' offer nursing moms privacy at theaters

September 18, 2017 05:39 PM

Proctors and the Palace Theatre are making changes to better accommodate new mothers.

The theaters, using a grant from the state Health Department and St. Peter's Health Partners, are opening up new "Lactation Lounges." The rooms will offer nursing moms a private, comfortable space to breastfeed or pump.

"I actually didn't realize until researching it this morning that in fact there's a federal law that says we should have such a thing," admitted Proctors CEO Philip Morris. "So I’m especially grateful to St. Peter's Health Partners for helping make sure that we are legal."

The rooms will be available during business hours for employees and during show hours for patrons.
