Scotia family grateful for donated blood that saved baby's life

There's a family in Scotia that thanks blood donors every day for being part of the team that helped save the life of their baby.
Logan Fogg was just 3 months old when he was diagnosed with a brain tumor. That was two years ago and he's well on his way to living a healthy life - but it took many of you to help him reach this day.
"Two days after he was diagnosed, they said they were cautiously optimistic and ever since they said that I just ran with it," said Jennifer Hendricks-Fogg, Logan's mom.
Instead of delighting in traditional infant milestones, his parents were challenged to support him as doctors worked to save his young life. There would be 16 surgeries, three of them, craniotomies - cutting into his tiny skull. Then, there was the powerful chemotherapy that ravaged his blood count. The only way to endure that treatment was with blood transfusions.
"Gosh, he had 11 rounds of chemo and I would say at least two transfusions per round. So he's probably had over 20," recalled Jennifer.
Before Logan's medical odyssey, Jennifer says she never thought much about donated blood -- only that it was needed for a catastrophe. In essence, that's what they faced.
While blood was available every time Logan needed it, Jennifer came to understand how fragile the blood supply can be.
"I never used to donate until him and now I donate all the time because I know what's needed," explained Jennifer.
Logan just turned 2 years old and is cancer and treatment free. He's catching up developmentally - not yet walking or eating - but Jennifer, her faith ever strong, believes that will all come in time. Her sense of gratitude for those blood donors who helped Logan reach this day, is boundless.
"Extremely grateful for people that just do it out of the kindness of their heart," said Jennifer.
