Emotions high as Albany Medical College students learn their future

ALBANY - Emotions were on display Friday among the graduating class at Albany Medical College. It was Match Day, when they learn where they will spend the next several years doing their residencies.

Match Day is considered one of the two biggest events in a medical student's academic life.

After months of research and interviews, graduating medical students give their top choices for residencies to the national program's database. In turn, hospitals submit their top choices for students.

The students and hospitals are then "matched" via a computer program.
