Even as the large COVID vaccination clinics run by the state struggle to keep up with demand, private doctors are urging the state to include them as vaccination sites. They argue they're better suited to reaching the underserved.
These are people who have trouble accessing the internet to get enrolled, or who may have trouble for many reasons traveling far to be vaccinated.
That's why the Medical Society of the State of New York is lobbying the state to include private physicians in the distribution of COVID vaccine.
They know supply is limited, but argue reprioritizing that supply and involving primary and family care doctors is the best way to insure more of the vulnerable population is protected.
