TROY - Samaritan Hospital and St. Mary's Hospital in Troy are merging into one legal entity on January 1.

NewsChannel 13 is told the merger will have no impact on the services or care provided at either facility.

The name St. Mary's Hospital will no longer be used. The building on Massachusetts Avenue will be renamed Samaritan Hospital: St Mary's Campus.

Because the St. Mary's facility no longer provides inpatient care, it does not meet regulations required to be licensed as a stand-alone hospital.

Both facilities are part of St. Peter's Health Partners.
