BALLSTON SPA - A Ballston Spa nursing home is now on a federal watch list.

Federal regulators have concluded the level of care at the Saratoga Center for Rehab & Skilled Nursing Care is just about the worst in the entire nation.

The nursing home used to be Maplewood Manor. It was privatized about four years ago.

According to CSEA, which represents about 45 employees, they think there is a direct correlation between the size of staff and quality of care.

There are just over 200 residents living at the home. NewsChannel 13 tried to speak with an administrator at the nursing home, but we were told she was not in – and unavailable for comment.

However, NewsChannel 13 spoke with one resident who has been living there since March 22. Patty Goyette has been undergoing rehabilitation for a broken arm and leg.

She says living there has been no picnic.

Hear about some of the problems she’s faced at the nursing home, by watching the video of Dan Levy’s story.

Saratoga County Administratior Spencer Hellwig released the following statement on Wednesday:

“We are deeply concerned about the reported operations and treatment of individuals. We are confident … that appropriate action will be taken to remedy the situation and insure that our seniors are receiving the care they deserve.”

This statement on behalf of the nursing home was sent to NewsChannel 13 on Thursday:

"Saratoga Center for Rehab and Skilled Nursing Care is in a transition period, as we are poised to welcome new and experienced ownership.

We look forward to the additional investment of resources that will enhance the patient experience. Our professional staff has been providing quality care during this time, and we will continue making the improvements that our residents and staff deserve."
