We're hearing a lot about hand washing to prevent the spread of germs, but are you doing it properly? You might think you are, but here are some things to consider:

  • Start by wetting your hands with water, then apply enough soap to cover wet hands.
  • Scrub all surfaces of the hands including the back of your hands between the fingers and under the nails - for at least 20 seconds.
  • Rinse them thoroughly, then dry with a clean cloth or single-use towel.
  • Wash your hands often, especially before eating and after blowing your nose, coughing, sneezing, and going to the bathroom.
  • Make it a practice to wash your hands as soon as you get into your house.
