Doctors: Applying sunscreen correctly essential for safe summer

We've all heard skin care experts say sunscreen is essential to reduce the risk of sunburn, skin cancer and wrinkles.

One in five Americans will develop skin cancer, and sunburns increase your risk.

Sunscreen is a good place to start, but doctors say many people don't use enough.

If you prefer lotion sunscreen, you'll want to apply a good coat that's visible on your skin and then rub it in.

If you're using a spray sunscreen, find a ventilated area and do two or three passes until you have a good, shiny coat and then rub it in.
