Guilderland board members discussed work allegedly being done to private vehicles on "school time" inside the Guilderland School District's bus garage at a board meeting on Tuesday night.

The meeting comes after Jill Konopka’s NewsChannel 13 investigates piece.

Conversation became heated during the school board meeting after the school board vice president made it his mission to bring the issue up on the public agenda.

“The problem, as I understand it, has been work being done on vehicles of supervisors who are not covered by the memo,” said Guilderland School Board Vice President, Tim Horan.

“The phrase that jumped out at me quite a bit was theft of services. I think that is something we really need to look at or investigate,” added Horan.

Other board members expressed their concerns over the allegations.

“It leaked from our executive session to the news. That is a very big concern of mine,” said board member, Gloria-Towle Hilt.

The board members seem to agree that many questions still need to be answered. The board is discussing whether their 2003 memo needs to be revised.

A board member has asked the full board for the New York State Comptroller's opinion on the matter.

Horan reminded board members that he is following their accountability handbook goals, “To ensure that assets are used properly, laws and regulations are followed, and the public interest is best served."
