Lawsuit alleges Albany County Jail employees of abused, tortured inmates

A federal lawsuit has been filed against employees at the Albany County Correctional Facility and Albany County Sheriff Craig Apple.

Nearly 100 pages of the suit filed Friday in New York City detail alleged beatings, illegal solitary confinement, torture and even sexual assault at the hands of staffers inside the jail.

The complaint was filed on behalf of two former and two current Albany County Jail inmates -- all men ages 19 to 25.

The suit says they were taken by the Department of Corrections from Rikers Island in New York City to the Albany County Jail.

NewsChannel 13 reached out to Sheriff Craig Apple, who said he could not comment on pending litigation.
