Classifications of 'non-violent' crimes concerning to some

NewsChannel 13 has been taking an in-depth look at justice reforms that take effect in New York state on January 1.

After our first story ran, many of you expressed concerns about crimes the state has listed as non-violent - as they're no longer going to be eligible for bail.


When you look at the list of misdemeanors and non-violent felonies where cash bail will no longer be on the table - things like assault, obstruction of breathing, harassment, killing a police dog, it begs the obvious question - how can they be considered non-violent?
