July 09, 2019 05:33 PM

The Federal Government is warning about a new scam. The crooks claim to be calling from the IRS or Social Security and demand cash.

When you Google the number, it comes back as Social Security, so many folks are calling back.

The person on the other end has all your information and claims fraudulent accounts have been opened in your name.

It's fake, the government will not call you.

"If you get one of these phone calls, the number one advice is hang up. The government does not call you to threaten you. The government does not call you to demand you buy gift cards or anything like that," said Monica Vaca from the Federal Trade Commission.

If you get a call like this, report it to the Federal Trade Commission.
