CANAJOHARIE - The former Beechnut factory in Canajoharie could soon be re-developed into a production site for legal marijuana.

The Montgomery County Legislature's Economic Development and Planning Committee advanced a development option agreement Tuesday night. It could convert to a purchase and sale agreement for E-29 labs within a year.

E-29 is hoping to capitalize on New York’s recent legalization. The project could generate tax revenue and create jobs.
