Clifton Park apple orchard shutting down after nearly 50 years

CLIFTON PARK - A Capital Region staple, Lindsey's Idyllwood Orchard in Clifton Park, is shutting down.

Owner Duane Lindsey tells NewsChannel 13 after nearly 50 years in business, it's time. He's 66 and ready to slow down.

He says business is down and costs for everything are up.

Lindsey's was the first "pick your own" orchard in Clifton Park. Their first crop was in 1971.

The owner says the orchard isn't for sale. He wants to hold onto the land.

The store is a separate business and will stay open.
