New York to allow sale of beer, cider ice cream

July 12, 2018 02:25 AM

New Yorkers will soon have more options when it comes to alcohol-infused ice cream.

A new state law will allow the sale of ice cream made with cider or beer. The measure requires the frozen products to contain no more than five percent alcohol, and it prohibits the sale to anyone under the age of 21.

New York has currently allowed the sale of wine ice cream for the past decade.

Lawmakers voted earlier this year to add beer and cider ice cream to the list in an effort to take advantage of consumer interest.
