The cost of overtime at state agencies reached an all-time high last year. That's according to a report released by State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli.
State agencies paid out $850 million for overtime. That's an increase of 5.5% from 2019.
The Department of Labor had the biggest increase in overtime at more than 17,000%.
The Department of Health, the Tax Department and the Department of Environmental Conservation all saw dramatic overtime increases from the year before.
However, overtime earnings and hours decreased at Corrections.
