Price Chopper announces shakeups in corporate IT department

SCHENECTADY - There's a shake-up at Price Chopper. The company says it's making changes to its IT department.

The company has signed a shared services partnership with HCL information technology company. It's a move the company says will make it more competitive, with access to better technology.

Price Chopper has 80 employees in the IT department. Fifty people are staying with the company or being rebranded as workers for HCL. Fewer than 20 people are choosing between a position with a store, or leaving the company.

Price Chopper offers a week of pay for each year with the company as severance.

Meanwhile, the company says it's hiring more employees at the store level.
