Senator Kirsten Gillibrand is calling on the White House to release money for the Low Income Heating Program.

The program, called LIHEAP, helps seniors and low income families pay their winter heating bills.

Gillibrand says the Trump administration has not released the funding for it yet.

Congress is asking for $300 million and much of that money goes to cold weather states like New York.

Gillibrand says she has support from Republicans on this issue.

Last year, the Trump administration wanted to eliminate LIHEAP but Congress would not allow it.
