NewsChannel 13 has been getting a lot of calls from viewers looking for help as they struggle to get unemployment payments, and we have shared some of their stories.

Many say they filed, but aren't having luck reaching an actual human being at the Labor Department.
Last week, we told you the Labor Department identified over 1.1 million fraudulent unemployment benefit claims during the pandemic.

Here are the steps to report fraudulent activity:

  • Report fraud on the Department of Labor website and identity theft on the Federal Trade Commission website.

  • Once reported, you will receive a confirmation e-mail. The Department of Labor will only call if the office of special investigations needs more information about the report.

  • The Department of Labor will then immediately shut down the fraudulent claim and stop the payment of benefits.
