AMSTERDAM - Ceremonies were held across the Capital Region to honor those who lost their lives 19 years ago.

In Amsterdam, the national anthem was sung by Jeff Samerson, a retired New York City EMT and a first responder at Ground Zero.

One of the speakers compared the attacks of 9/11 to Pearl Harbor.

There was also a moment of silence, a ringing of bells, and a wreath laying ceremony.
