Queensbury using $50,000 grant for green energy purposes

New LED streetlights and a second electric vehicle are in the works for the town of Queensbury.

The town has been given a $50,000 grant from the state Energy and Development Research Authority.

Town officials plan to use that money for a plug-in hybrid SUV and to replace lights on Main Street and along Route 9.

The lighting will be changed after the town finishes an agreement with National Grid.

The town will also save money on its electric bill because of the switch.
