In the Capital Region, it was a solemn day at Saratoga National Cemetery.

Veterans were honored with a ceremony and by speakers.

The man who gave the keynote address is retired Sergeant First Class Robert Garland. He's 90 years old and was a paratrooper who served in both Korea and Vietnam.

Garland was also a member of the Round Lake Fire Department - and members were in attendance on Monday to honor him.

Hear Garland talk more about why this day means so much to him, by watching the video of the story.
