First Night Saratoga getting rid of traditional fireworks

SARATOGA SPRINGS - Thousands of people will gather in Saratoga Springs for one of the biggest First Night celebrations in the Northeast.

However, this is the first year the new year won't be rung in with a bang.

This year, there won't be traditional fireworks. Instead, a multimedia presentation will be shown on the big screen at the City Center and on attendees' phones.

The event will also feature 70 performers and 30 venues.
