The Adirondack Balloon Festival takes flight on Thursday.

The official kick-off to the festival begins at 5 p.m. with an opening ceremony.

After the ceremony, 20 balloons will launch into the sky at Crandall Park in Glens Falls.

The event continues through Sunday with balloons taking flight every day, weather permitting, at the Floyd Bennett Memorial Airport.

There are also activities for the families, live music and food.

This is the 47th year for the event.
