A teen accused of killing his best friend in Washington County was sentenced to 20 years to life behind bars on Friday.
Adrian Sawyer, 16, admitted to cutting Maverick Bowman's throat last fall with a machete after a night of partying. Bowman was about to turn 16 years old.
He tried to cover up the crime by dousing the body with lighter fluid and lighting it.
His lawyer says Sawyer doesn't really remember why he did it.

When asked by Judge if he wanted to make a statement Adrian Sawyer said: “I’m all right.”— John Craig (@JohnCraigWNYT) February 22, 2019
Judge McKeighan: “that’s probably the most incorrect statement I’ve ever heard in this courtroom.”
