Affordable housing in Pittsfield helps pave path to home ownership

They are six words that inspired a music video, a documentary and a lot of conversation.

However, in Pittsfield, the phrase, "The rent is too damn high," is real.


According to the Central Berkshire Habitat for Humanity, high rent is keeping many people from owning a home.

Habitat is trying to change that with some new affordable units.

Six units of affordable housing are being built on Gordon Street – about an acre of land.

It is a happening because of a number of partnerships.
