Albany and Schenectady have plans to keep kids safe on Halloween.

In Schenectady, trick-or-treating will officially begin at 2 p.m.

The city wants homeowners to turn off their porch lights and stop handing out treats at 8 p.m.

Albany will be hosting Halloween parties at the Hoffman and Arbor Hill community centers on Thursday night.

The parties will run from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and will feature games, costume contests, food and of course, candy.
