In case you were wondering, the answer is no – you can't make your own license plate for your car.

State Police stopped a car Saturday when they thought something didn't look quite right about the license plate on a car they spotted on Grand Street. Sure enough, the phony plate was actually just printed out on piece of paper and placed under a license plate cover.

The driver, 26-year-old Evan Fernandez of Albany, was given a ticket.
