A pre-game block party was held in South Pearl St. Additionally, the CBS Sports Network national broadcast of the game will be broadcast to the Times Union Center’s new state-of-the-art video boards that overlook South Pearl St.

Fans have been eager for the Arena Football League to return to the area. The Albany Firebirds had a strong run from 1990-2000 before moving to Indiana. The Albany Conquest, who played in the lesser af2 league, called Albany home from 2002-2009.

Former Firebirds wide receiver Eddie Brown will have his jersey retired at halftime on Saturday. His son, NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown, is expected to be on hand for the festivities.

NewsChannel 13 will have highlights of the Empire's inaugural game on Live at 11.
