Albany International Airport searches for couple in lost photos

"We have no way of knowing who these people are," said Doug Myers, Director of Public Affairs for Albany International Airport.

Myers is referring to a couple captured in a series of photos taken on their wedding day. The photo album is one of hundreds of items found at the airport last year. It appears the photos were taken sometime in the 1960s or 1970s.

"We do a little detective work here. We try to reunite people with things they've lost," said Myers.

Myers says each year, they receive about 600 calls from people looking for lost items. They find everything from hats and gloves to cell phones and jewelry.

"We find them in the baggage claim. We find them in the restrooms. We find it on the observation level," said Myers.

Myers says they typically hold onto items for about 60 days before making other arrangements.

"In terms of clothing, we will turn that over to the Veteran's Miracle Group here in Albany," said Myers.

Higher value items like laptops and cell phones get turned over to the Albany Sheriff's Office. Other things get thrown away.

In the case of the wedding album, they've been holding onto it for a year hoping someone would claim it. Myers decided to take the album public hoping the memories can find their way home.

"It's not much the cost of it, it's irreplaceable and I'm sure these people would love to have it back," said Myers.
