ALBANY - The city of Albany is renaming a portion of New Scotland Avenue in honor of a local leader.

New Scotland Avenue between Holland Avenue and Madison Avenue is now named after Albany Medical Center President and CEO James Barba.

He is retiring next year, so the city wanted to recognize his contributions to Albany.

James Barba has lead the hospital since 1995.
